K-2 Musical Theatre: Cinderella

One of the most magical and beloved tales of all time, Cinderella celebrates true beauty, magic and the power of kindness. Full of colorful and creative characters, Cinderella is the perfect class for your budding actor or actress. Students will learn songs from Disney’s Cinderella Kids and create characters from the story. Including all kinds characters such as the graceful Cinderella, the handsome Prince, the cruel Stepmother, the hilarious stepsisters, the wish-granting fairy Godmother, the sidekick mice, Cinderella has TONS of great opportunities for both boys and girls to find their actor and expand their skills. In this class students will focus on the three musical theatre disciplines: acting, singing, and dancing. A perfect class for those wanting to do it all! So “Bippity-Boppity- Boo” and sign on up!

HS Specialty: Adaptation

Students discover the art of creating new work based on existing material. Students will work collaboratively and experimentally to create theatrical scenes based on works of prose, fiction, historical events, and/or personal experience. Learn how to develop a script and adapt the tone, structure, characters, conventions and plot for the stage right off the page. Create the world of the play using various tools and transformative objects. Perfect for students who also love directing, improvisation or writing.

Skills Focus:
• Using existing literature to create new theatrical scripts
• Working collaboratively and developmentally
• “Pitching” ideas or concepts to ensembles
• Using movement, sounds, speech, ordinary objects and physicality to community meaning, characters and places
• Refining scripts and dialogue
• Communicating ideas through stage directions and written scripts

HS Improv: Improv 2

Pre-requisite: 1 prior semester of improv
Take the next step in improvisation acting. Designed for more experienced students, discover different forms and styles of improv including long-form and montage. Learn to strengthen and fine-tune your ensemble skills and create dynamic scenes and characters. Improv need not always be funny, and this class focuses on the craft of creating strong improvised scenes: both comedic and dramatic. Students will still play plenty of the short form games they love, while learning to focus specific choices, giving gifts to partners, editing and creating grounded, realistic improv scenes.

• Understanding and using various improv forms
• Using improv as a character and scene tool
• Building more complex relationships and characters
• Long-form improvised scenes
• Various forms of edits
