Cyndy Soumar joined the faculty of CTWS in 2004. She enjoys teaching a variety of Musical Theater and acting classes to all grades, Kindergarten through High School. Outside the CTWS theater classroom, CTWS credits include Mainstage shows Cinderella, Willie Wonka, The Snow Queen (choreographer); Scrooge: The Musical (director and choreographer); CTWS Summer Camp High School Musical, The Lion King, Peter Pan, Frozen; Cyndy also directed three seasons of CTWS touring Trouping Shows Stuart Little; Gooney Bird Greene & Her True Life Adventures; and Storyville. Choreographer/Musical Staging for HSR Summer Stock productions of Urinetown; Sweet Charity; 13; Smile; Lucky Stiff; RENT; Spamalot; Godspell; Honk!; The Addams Family; Grease; Little Shop of Horrors, Something Rotten, The Music Man; HSR Directing Advisor. Family Forum productions, director and choreographer for seasons 1-5, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day; How I Became a Pirate; Disney’s Cinderella; Little Red Robin Hood; and Disney’s 101 Dalmatians.
In addition to teaching theater classes and working on nearly 100 stage productions throughout Illinois, Cyndy has taught all dance disciplines at local studios, choreographed show choirs for concert and Disney World performances, directs and choreographs local annual Middle School musical productions. She also teaches musical performers privately for auditions, sung theater performance skills, scene work, and dance/movement for actors and musical theater. Prior to CTWS, Cyndy served as Teaching Artist/Choreographer for a large area high school district. By day, she can be found working locally in Special Education. Cyndy is passionate about performing arts education!
