Cyndy Soumar

Cyndy Soumar joined the faculty of CTWS in 2006, and enjoys teaching a variety of Acting,  Musical Theater, and Dance classes to all grades, Kindergarten through High School.   She is passionate about arts education!    

In addition to teaching in the CTWS theater classroom, Cyndy’s CTWS staging credits include choreographer and musical staging for Holiday Mainstage shows Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, The Snow Queen, Newsies, Willy Wonka (2010), Willy Wonka Jr. (2024), and Scrooge: The Musical (director and choreographer);  CTWS Summer Camp Choreography: High School Musical, The Lion King, Peter Pan, Frozen; and Finding Nemo Jr., Alice in Wonderland  and Once Upon A Mattress (Workshop & Costuming).  Cyndy also directed and managed three seasons of CTWS’  touring Trouping Shows Stuart Little; Gooney Bird Greene & Her True Life Adventures; and Storyville.  

Choreographer/Musical Staging for HSR Summer Stock productions of Urinetown; Sweet Charity; 13; Smile; Lucky Stiff;  RENT; Godspell; Honk!; The Addams Family; Grease; Little Shop of Horrors, Something Rotten, The Music Man, Mean Girls, and Spamalot (2014 and 2024 productions). For the CTWS Family Forum production series, Director and Choreographer for seasons 1-5, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day; How I Became a Pirate; Disney’s Cinderella; Little Red Robin Hood; and Disney’s 101 Dalmatians.                Cyndy also served several seasons as HSR Company Directing Advisor.  

In addition to teaching theater classes and working on over 100 stage productions throughout Illinois,  Cyndy has taught dance to young performers at local studios, choreographed show choirs for concert and Disney World performances, has directed and choreographed countless local Middle School musical productions, and coaches musical performers privately for auditions, sung theater performance skills, and dance/movement for actors and musical theater.  Prior to CTWS, Cyndy also enjoyed many years as Teaching Artist/Choreographer for a large high school district’s Performing Arts Department. 

Finally - during school hours, you can find Cyndy working in Special Education classrooms!
