THE CATTELL SERIES

The Cattell Series Returns — February 15!

TWS is thrilled to welcome back the Cattell Series, our popular conversation series spotlighting professionals from theatre, film, and television. This exciting program offers audiences a rare, behind-the-scenes look at creative careers and crafts that bring stories to life. Past Cattell Series guests have included Brian Dennehy, Nora Dunn, Broadway stars, Tony Award winners, Oscar nominees, and many more distinguished artists.

Kicking off the return on February 15, we are proud to host Chris Payne, Special Effects Makeup Department Head for NBC’s Chicago Fire. With nearly 20 years of professional experience, Chris has built an impressive career working across theatre, television, and film. He holds a Master’s Degree in Makeup and Wig Design from the University of Cincinnati and has shared his expertise as an educator at schools, trade shows, and theatres nationwide.

For the past 12 years, Chris has led special effects makeup on Chicago Fire. His extensive credits also include hit television series such as Empire, CSI, NCIS, Nip/Tuck, Grey’s Anatomy, and Lost, as well as major films including Star Trek (winner of the 2010 Academy Award for Best Makeup), Jupiter Ascending, and Clive Barker’s Midnight Meat Train. An accomplished author, Chris wrote the Beginner’s Guide to Special Makeup Effects book series and is a contributing writer to Makeup Artistry for Film and Television. During the event, he’ll share insights from his career and showcase examples of his work.

The event begins at 6:00 pm and is free and open to the public, with a small reception to follow. Donations are welcome.
