TWS August 2026 Studio Information

TWS Studio is an introduction to our theatre that covers acting, tech opportunities, and the processes for volunteering and performing at TWS.  If you would like to be cast in our productions, Studio is the first step!

During this three-week class, each actor will be assigned a monologue and a partnered scene that you will be coached on throughout the course.  Performers also have the option to rehearse a musical solo of their choice.  On the last session, you will perform your monologue, scene, and optional solo for your family and friends in our intimate Cattell Theatre.  Active members of the theatre will also be there to cheer you on, and our Active Laureates will host a small reception afterwards to celebrate your Studio Graduation!

Note: Participants NOT interested in performing will be introduced to several technical areas of the theatre and work “backstage” for the final presentation.

The cost for Studio is $165, which includes a full 6-play subscription to our 98th Season starting in September. In order to be eligible for casting at TWS, you must complete Studio, purchase a full season subscription (included in your Studio registration fee), and volunteer at the theatre at least once per season.  Anyone 18 or older can register, and all levels of experience are welcome.

You must be 18 years old or older to enroll.

A first look at a brand new show, crafted by the talented writers of the TWS Playwrights Workshop.  This special event features a staged reading brought to life by TWS Actives and guided by a director from the TWS Directors Workshop.

Join us on Saturday, May 2nd 2026, at 2:00 pm in the Cattell Theatre and engage your imagination as actors bring a script to life.  Stay after the performance for an audience discussion and join the conversation about these exciting new works.

“One Hundred Days of Beagles”  is a magical realist drama about two sisters reuniting in Reykjavik after years on different continents. Octavia has built a life in the U.S., while May stayed in Stockholm to raise a family. Their time together stirs memories of growing up in 1970s Sweden as bilingual daughters of Hungarian and Swedish parents—always slightly outside the frame. As Iceland’s uncanny landscape blurs time and memory, they must choose between the stories they inherited and the lives they want now.

What is Readers Theatre?

Also known as concert readings, this format strips theatre down to its essence: actors, scripts, and storytelling.  With scripts in hand, the focus is on the words and characters. It’s a unique way to experience a play — and a golden opportunity for the audience to comment on the work with the creative staff.
