TWS Education is proud to present the Acting Method Seminar Series, featuring Jean Gottlieb, Holly Striska, and David Rodriguez.
- Three Monday evening sessions in July
- Each session, a different instructor will provide an overview of a specific method of acting. A session might include a lecture, hands on activities, Q & A, and more.
- Location: Cattell Theatre
- Time: Mondays at 7:00pm
- All sessions are free to Actives, HSR students, and CTWS Parent (cost is $10 per session for everyone else)
- All experience levels are welcome.
- You do not need to attend all sessions - just register for the ones that you will attend.

Monday, July 6, 2026 Session: Jean Gottlieb - Konstantin Stanislavski
Stanislavski's approach to acting revolutionized the craft, teaching actors to create truthful human behavior on stage. With concepts like 'The magic if', Objectives and Emotional Memory, he paved the way for actors to create believable performances on stage and screen. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or just starting out, understanding Stanislavski’s method can help with developing depth and emotional connection in your acting.
Monday, July 20, 2026 Session: Holly Striska - Lee Strasberg
The Lee Strasberg Method of acting is an influential approach to performance that grew out of the work of Russian theater practitioner Konstantin Stanislavski and helped shape modern American acting. This seminar will explore the foundations of Method acting through lecture, discussion, and selected demonstrations and exercises related to relaxation, concentration, sensory memory, and emotional truth in performance. Participants will examine Strasberg’s interpretation of Stanislavski’s ideas, discuss the lasting influence of the Method on theater and film, and consider both the strengths and criticisms of this influential acting approach.
Monday, July 27, 2026 Session: David Rodriguez - Stella Adler
A student of Stanislavski, Stella's teachings focused on the power of the actor's imagination as an unlimited source of inspiration to truthfully convey the circumstances and history of the character. She believed the text offered "hidden gold" which allowed the actor to enrich the character's backstory to make the strongest choice possible. Some of her most successful students include Robert DeNiro, Mark Ruffalo, and the great Marlon Brando. David studied intensively at the Stella Adler Academy of Acting under teachers who were taught directly by Stella when they attended.
