Jr High Improv: Improv 1

I’m going off script! Students think fast and have plenty of laughs in this upbeat class that teaches the fundamentals of improvisation. Not only will students enjoy games and comedic improv, but they’ll also learn techniques that will help them feel more confident as they grow into young performers. Fast paced and focused, improvisers will learn many new techniques that will serve them in many areas of theatre. From playing games to playing scenes, this class is sure to grow and stretch your student.

3rd-5th Acting: Grimm’s Fairy Tales

From rags to riches, the goose that laid the golden eggs, escaping a witch’s oven—these are the stories and images that shape our “happily ever afters”. The Brothers Grimm wrote some of the most popular fairy tales of time and this class will allow students to explore scenes from many of the classics. There’s nothing like taking the stage with your favorite stories accompanying you – with tales from fables like Snow White, Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, and Little Red Riding Hood. Students will build confidence and focus on interacting with one another to create familiar scenes. They’ll also be given creative liberties with their favorite characters. The possibilities are endless!

Jr High Singing: Hamilton

Back by popular demand! Don’t throw away your shot! If you’re walking around your house singing your favorite songs from Hamilton, then this is the class for you! Join others who loved the musical and can’t get enough of the soundtrack. Students will work on developing a consistent tone, pitch and rhythm with their favorite musical as the backdrop.

Jr High/HSR Specialty: Stage Combat & Physical Comedy

We’ve brought together two of our most popular classes into ONE awesome class. If you want to stretch and challenge your physical acting skills, this class is a perfect fit for you! Learn some basics of stage combat while you kick, hit, jab and punch (all while keeping you and your partner safe). Then, dive into some physical comedy using pratfalls, pranks and other physical gags to get a laugh. You will discover a whole new side to acting in this fun and physical class.

Skills Focus:

  • Safety in movement
  • Basic combat/fall techniques
  • Working physical combat/gags into scenes
  • Using physicality to develop characters
  • Working with a partner
