CTWS Staff David Knezz

David teaches classes and workshops in stage make-up. drama, mask-making and mask-acting to adults and children across the globe. A resident instructor at the Children's Theatre of Western Springs since 1992, David won a Legacy Award in 1997 for excellence in teaching and was honored with the 2009 Award of Excellence for Creative Dramatics by the Illinois Theatre Association.   An avid sculptor and mask-maker, you can view his work on the web at www.mask-maker.com. David strongly believes that the purpose of drama and art is to increase our understanding of life, as well as awaken self-confidence, creativity, and intuition.

For the SYDA foundation he directed an adaptation of the Indian epic, The Ramayana (1992), Hanuman (2004) and The Missing Piece by Shel Silverstein (2002) David was founder and director of the Improvisation troupe, Laughing Gas (1985-95) as well as founder of the puppet company, Znkster Puppets (1991-95).
