3RD – 5TH Specialty: Accents & Dialects

G’day mate! Y’all come back now, ya hear? Oh, bugger off! Sometimes roles call for accents, which can make it a more fun and dynamic character. This class will introduce a number of accents and dialects and allow students time to practice. It’s easy to get caught up in the accent itself, but this class will help keep participants focused on the character. You’ll be amazed how much your voice can enhance a scene!

Skills Focus:
• Discovering different American regional dialects such as southern, New York, Californian, etc
• International dialects such as British, Australian, German, Irish
• Be empowered and equipped with various tools on using dialects
• Learn when a character/accent is appropriate for a character choice
• Work on consistency and reliability with accents/dialects
• How to interpret emotional moments while using a dialect or accent
