The Directors’ Workshop is an educational workshop that presents four weekend performances a year in the Cattell Theatre. Ed Wavak is chair of the Directors' Workshop committee and Greg Kolack, TWS Artist-in-Residence, is the Directors' Workshop Mentor.

The Theatre of Western Springs (708-246-4043) is located at the corner of Hampton
and Hillgrove in Western Springs, just north of the Burlington Railroad tracks and just east of the Tri-State Tollway.

Take the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) and exit Ogden
Avenue east. Turn south on the first street east of the tollway (Hampton). Continue down Hampton and turn right on the street just before the "T" intersection.

There is free parking across the street from the Theatre.

3rd – 5th Specialty: Storytelling & Scriptwriting

Bring whole new worlds to life with ideas from your creativity. YOU could be the next JK Rowling. Learn to turn ideas for characters, stories, worlds into pages for actors and scripts. Students in this class will work to create new original stories, dramatize them and bring them to life. Special focus is given to group storytelling, collaboration, narration, plot structure with an end goal of performing their own original works.

Skills Focus:
• Basic scriptwriting including plot, structure and character
• Storytelling
• Creative idea generation
• Acting/creating characters
• Working with an ensemble to build ideas and story

Mondays 4:00-5:00 pm
The semester runs from Aug 27-Dec 14.
